Robbery arrest update
Police have made an arrest in a series of purse-snatching robberies in Columbia and Elkridge. On four occasions from Sept. 9-19, adult female victims reported that a male suspect approached them and stole or attempted to steal their purse before fleeing. Two robberies occurred in the parking lot of CVS in the 6400 block of Waterloo Road; one in a parking lot in the 6500 block of Dobbin Road; and one in the Costco parking lot in the 6600 block of Marie Curie Drive. Through investigation, police identified a suspect and arrested him.

Assault
Columbia, 21045: 8600 block of Cloudleap Court, Sept. 21 7:07 p.m.
Police responded for a report of a male suspect with a knife making threats. Officers arrived and observed the suspect attempting to assault another person with the knife. He was arrested; no one was injured.
ARRESTED: Melvin Flores, 40, of Tamar Drive in Columbia, charged with assault and disorderly conduct
Robbery
Columbia, 21045: 7100 block of Cradlerock Way, Sept. 22 9 p.m.
An adult male victim reported that a group of acquaintances and unknown male suspects assaulted him and stole his possessions on a footpath near the above location before fleeing. No serious injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
Residential burglary
Ellicott City, 21043: 5000 block of Waterloo Road, Sept. 21 5:18 p.m.
A known suspect gained entry to the residence by breaking a rear window and stole copper piping and wiring and other items.
