About Us

Our Service Area

Howard County is located in central Maryland with close proximity to Baltimore to the north and Washington, DC to the south.

Who We Are

The Guilford Gazette is a community web-based newspaper providing hyper-local news on the neighborhood level. We offer digital only at this time. Our website is capable of push notifications enabling readers to get up-to-the-minute news and information. In the second quarter of 2024, we will launch a fresh website to cover all of Howard County. That asset will focus on in-depth and investigative reporting.

History

The Guilford Gazette was established in 2011 with an initial vision towards helping families of school-aged children by providing needed information about the local schools and providing announcements about programs that could help children grow academically, especially through the Raising the Bar program designed to engage parents about academic hurdles facing their children.

The project expanded to cover the entire Hammond High School service area, which includes Savage, Kings Contrivance, North Laurel, Jessup, and Guilford.

Vision

Our vision at the Guilford Gazette is to establish a sustainable local media company that serves the interests of our service area with news, information, and features that our staff and freelancers produce.  We aim to provide original, high quality articles about the neighborhoods, businesses, and people we serve.
