Silver Spring Woman Sings in U.S. Navy

PEARL HARBOR – (Sept. 21, 2018) – Boatswain’s Mate 3rd Class Edith Lemus, assigned to the submarine tender USS Emory S. Land (AS 39), sings the national anthem during a change of command ceremony, in which Capt. Michael Luckett relieved Capt. Douglas A. Bradley as commanding officer, in Pearl Harbor, Sept. 21. Land is currently deployed as an expeditionary submarine tender on an extended deployment conducting coordinated tended moorings and afloat maintenance in the U.S. 5th and 7th Fleet areas of operations. Land and USS Frank Cable (AS 40), the U.S. Navy’s only two submarine tenders, both homeported in Apra Harbor, Guam, provide maintenance, hotel services and logistical support to submarines and surface ships in the U.S. 5th and 7th Fleet areas of operation.
