Police Investigate Apartment Homicide

Howard County police are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information about a homicide and assault in a Columbia apartment on May 5. Police found a woman deceased and a man significantly injured after family members asked for a check on their welfare at the residence.

Amanda Nicole Harris, 36, of Spiral Cut in Columbia, was pronounced dead at the scene. William James Webb, 42, of the same address, was transported to Shock Trauma and remains in critical condition. Both victims’ injuries were a result of blunt force trauma.

Police have no additional information at this time and do not know a motive in this case. Officers found the residence to be secure upon arrival. It is unclear if the suspect or suspects in this incident knew the victims.

Investigators want to talk with anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the area during the overnight hours between May 4-5. They are asking anyone with information to contact police at 410-313-STOP or HCPDcrimetips@howardcountymd.gov.

Police were called to the 8800 block of Spiral Cut in Columbia at approximately 5:43 p.m. for a check on welfare after receiving a 911 call from concerned family members.

Officers located a 36-year-old woman deceased and a 42-year-old man with undetermined significant injuries. The man was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

No further information is available at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
