End of Year Message from Dr. Martirano

Dear HCPSS Community:

We’ve reached the end of the school year, and I’d like to share a few parting thoughts as students, families and teachers prepare for a well-deserved summer break.

This year we’ve taken steps forward fulfilling many of the commitments and outcomes of our Strategic Call to Action, by increasing equity in our instructional programs and disciplinary processes, building restorative practices in our school and system culture, improving school and student safety, and advancing personalized learning and supports.

I’m particularly proud of the progress we’ve made in incorporating mental and physical well-being into our educational program, because they are essential to student achievement and growth. Next school year we will build on our progress through initiatives in restorative practices, student voice, personalized learning, bias avoidance, bullying prevention and other facets of a nurturing, inclusive school environment.

I am awed by my great fortune in the opportunity to interact and collaborate with so many deeply committed parents, staff and community members. I look forward to continuing our work together next year.

I offer you my best wishes for a healthy, rejuvenating and enjoyable summer.

Sincerely,

Michael J. Martirano
Superintendent
