– End of summer clearance clothes and items (bathing suits, beach gear, pool toys, etc.) (54 percent)

– Fall clothes (23 percent)

If you’re looking to end your summer on a high note and score some amazing deals, below are some tips on how to save this Labor Day weekend from Rebecca Gramuglia, Shopping Expert at TopCashback.com:

Wait on electronics. To the 11 percent of Americans who participated in our survey and are looking to buy electronics during Labor Day sales, you should wait, especially if it’s more of a “want” than a “need.” Electronics are the perfect items to buy during Black Friday, or even Super Bowl weekend – if you’re looking for a big TV to watch the game on. Plus, if you want to buy a new iPhone, wait until the current models get marked down when Apple announces the newer phones in September.

Stack the savings. Whether you’re looking to purchase marked down summer clothes or cool fall decor, use coupons and shop through a cashback website like TopCashback.com, to earn a percentage back of the money you spend on favorite retailers like Target, Macys, Michaels and more.

Do your research. Research items in advance to avoid overspending and spontaneous shopping. Find out which retailer has the best deal on the item you are looking to purchase. Sign up for emails and alerts, follow major retailers on social media, etc. so you’re in the know. Prioritize retailers that have the best deals for your most-wanted items this Labor Day. You can also jot down store hours and how long the promotions will run to beat the crowds and lines.

Shop retailers with free shipping. Plenty of retailers will be offering free shipping to entice online shoppers. Don’t make the mistake of shopping online and paying for shipping this Labor Day. Think of free shipping as a chain reaction; if Amazon offers free shipping, other major retailers will simultaneously offer shipping freebies and discounts to attract new and current customers to transact.

Know when and what to buy. Thanks to end of summer clearance events, Labor Day sales and back-to-school deals, September is full of savings. Check out some great buys below:

Computers. You can thank back-to-school sales for deals and steals on both desktop computers and laptops. Not only will you find discounted electronics, but freebie deals are also available. For example, Apple tends to include back-to-school discounts on almost all computers, warranties and free items such as headphones.

Older iPhone models. Historically, Apple announces new iPhone models in September, so you’ll start to see discounts on older models around that time. Those who don’t mind missing out on the newest update can save hundreds of dollars on previous years’ models.

Appliances. The weeks leading up to Labor Day will be filled with promotions on appliances big and small.

Summer gear. If you’ve just worn out your boogie boards and your beach chairs have seen better days, purchase a new one at the end of the season. Labor Day is notorious for marking down end-of-season items. Whether its clothes, bathing suits or pool and beach toys, get some new gear for the following year.
